Eduardo Benamor Duarte, PT

b.1975

Licensed architect, designer and owner of the studio Benamor Duarte Architecture, based in New York City and Lisbon. Since 2011 he is an Assistant Professor at the Rhode Island School of Design, leading design studios and seminars in the Department of Interior Architecture. His work has been widely exhibited in Europe, namely at the Salone Satellite, SuperstudioPiu and MADE Expo in Milan; Institut National d'Architecture in Paris and Experimenta design Biennial in Lisbon and in Wanted Design in New York. Eduardo Benamor Duarte’s design work has been featured in numerous prestigious magazines (AD France, Domus, Elle Décor, Ecologik, Interni, Icon, Vogue, Surface China and Space Magazine); television networks (RTP, RAI UNO) or press (Corriere della Sera, La Reppublica and Expresso). His work and research has been awarded by several institutions such as the Ministério da Cultura – Direcção Geral das Artes, Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia e Associação Empresarial Portuguesa (AEP).
before establishing his own practice in 2009. his experience have lead to work as an Associate Senior designer at the New York office of Skidmore Owings and Merrill LLP, In addition to his professional practice, he has taught architecture and design studios in the USA at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and California College of the Arts in San Francisco..
Eduardo Benamor Duarte holds a Master of Science in Advanced Architectural Design from Columbia University, and a Bachelor of Architecture and Urban Design from the Technical University of Lisbon.
